One side of the ground and the surrounding fields have been left underwater as a result of the flooding.

The water has left visible damage to the playing surface at New Road, which sits on the west bank of the River Severn.

New Road is often flooded during the winter due to its proximity to the river.

Flash floods in January left the venue completely underwater, whilst a match in 2019 had to be moved due to flooding.

However, the latest flooding will come as a concern ahead of the new cricket season.

The County Championship is set to get underway on Friday, with Worcestershire travelling to Edgbaston to face Warwickshire.

Fortunately, their first home match on April 19 is not scheduled to be held at New Road.

Chester Road North in Kidderminster is instead set to host their clash with Durham.

Meanwhile, the first fixture at New Road in 2024 will be the Pears’ fourth County Championship match of the campaign against Somerset, starting on April 26.
