Ian Redpath dead aged 83: Stars pay tribute to Ashes cricket legend who played 66 Tests for Australia
AUSTRALIAN cricket legend Ian Redpath has died aged 83.
Redpath passed away on Sunday after a battle with a short illness.

Redpath is a Hall of Fame Australian cricketer who played 66 Tests for the Aussies, hitting eight centuries between 1964 and 1976.
He finished his international career with an average of 43.45 from those 66 tests.
While his career-high return was an impressive 171 runs – a number achieved against rivals England in 1970.
The Victoria-born batsman was affectionately nicknamed ‘Redders’ and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
Tributes have already begun to pour in for the legend.
The Cricket Australia account on X posted: “Goodbye to a legend of Australian cricket.
“We offer our condolences to the family and friends of Hall of Famer and Test batsman Ian Redpath, who has passed away at the age of 83.”
While former Aussie cricket star Damien Fleming paid tribute himself on X.
He wrote: “Rest In Peace Redders. What a great cricketer but even better person.
“Inspired/mentored so many of us at South Melbourne and Geelong cricket clubs.
“So admired by all you played/coached with for Victoria and Australia.
“And once again sorry I let you down partnering with you on the golf course. Condolences to the Redpath family”.
Redpath retired with the record for the most runs scored in a single over (32) by an Australian in first-class cricket.
