DARTS star Rob Cross refused to sign a fan’s shirt after realising who it was in support of.

The 2018 world champion, 32, was in Leverkusen, Germany over the weekend competing in the European Open.

He safely made his way through to the quarter-finals with wins over Ryan Joyce and William O’Connor.

In the last eight he then came up against Ricardo Pietreczko, but produced a hilarious moment on his way to the oche.

Greeting fans as he headed to the stage, Cross went to sign a fan’s top but then stopped when he saw it was a green shirt worn by rival Michael van Gerwen.

Cross brilliantly addressed the darts fan, saying: “I won’t sign that s**t.”

He then gave the supporter a fist-bump and walked off.

Cross, who Van Gerwen labelled “boring” earlier this year, went on to beat Pietreczko 6-5 to reach the semi-finals, before he lost to Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Gerwyn Price then defeated Van Duijvenbode in the final to claim the European Open title.

Meanwhile, three-time world champion Van Gerwen has spoken in the past about his trademark green shirt.

“Sometimes when I’m walking in the street people stop me and say ‘I didn’t recognise you without your darts shirt’.

“It’s not that I picked the green colour, just that I used it once and felt comfortable. It’s not even my favourite colour! My favourite colour is blue.”
