Antony Is Our Missing Link
In his post-match interview on Sunday evening, Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, acknowledged that the club’s new signing, Anthony was the missing link in the Red Devils’ squad over time.
Naija News reports that United thrashed visiting Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday evening at Old Trafford. Ten Hag’s side broke Arsenal’s winning streak since the ongoing campaign started.
Recall that United completed the signing of the Brazil winger from Ajax for a fee of £86m last week. The 22-year-old opened today’s scoring for United into the first half.
England star, Marcus Rashford put United into leading with two more goals in the 66,75 minutes after Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka netted an equalizer in the 60th minute of the game.
Reacting to the victory, Ten Hag said: “I think we have all seen what a threat Antony is. His speed and creativity, I think, can be a real threat in the Premier League.
“We missed a player on the right wing, because all the players who can play there, like Jadon Sancho, like Marcus Rashford, they prefer more the centre or the left side.
“Now we have the one who can play really well over on the right wing. That was a missing link. Today, his first performance here, he did well but I think he can step up.
“I know him from Amsterdam and I know this is a different league, but there is potential and he will be even more of a threat to opponents than he was today. But I would say, today already, it was a great goal.”
