PIRANHEER (7.00 Lingfield, nap)
Moving up to this 1m4f trip was the making of the five-year-old last time as he improved massively to be beaten just over a length. He went well on the track and finished off strongly. That was enough to see title-chasing Oisin Murphy take the ride today and he can make the difference in what looks a very weak contest.
BIRKENHEAD (9.00 Lingfield, nb)
He’s another getting the benefit of Murphy on the back of an excellent three runs at Catterick which yielded a win and two places. This race is run on turf and the handicapper has been fair with just a 2lb rise for his latest podium run. He is best over this minimum trip and it won’t matter if Lingfield catches a shower as he handles any ground.
ELLERTON (6.10 Stratford, treble)
He was a winner on the Flat and was just pipped over timber at Newton Abbot 18 days ago. Harry Cobden takes over today and he should be good enough to strike.
BLENHEIM STAR (3.25 Brighton, Lucky 15)
He battled to win on his last visit to the seaside track and didn’t get the run of the race at Bath latest. He can go close in this modest race.
