Hearts return to wining ways after Presidential Cup triumph
Accra Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League after winning the President’s Cup. Hearts of Oak beat their archrivals Asante Kotoko 2-1 in the Presidential Cup on Friday, March 4, 2022.
The Phobians beat WAFA 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium om Wednesday afternoon.
The first half ended in a goalless draw with both sides pushing each other to the wall. Hearts of Oak went ahead in the 46th minute through Kwabena Obeng Junior. WAFA got an equalizer after 55 minutes of play through Derrick Antwi Mensah.
Sulley Ali Muntari secured all three points for the Phobians through the spot kick. This is the first goal scored by the former Inter Milan mildfielder after joining Hearts of Oak.
Asante Kotoko were also held to a barren draw by Bechem United on Tuesday at the Bechem Park. Samuel Osei Kuffour who plays for Bechem United was given a red card after a silly tackle on Kotoko striker, Franck Mbella.
The Bechem defender stamped Mbella at the blind side of the referee. Osei Kuffour was shown the red card. He was adjudged the man of the match despite his ruthless tackle on Mbella
