But Cadiz made it a difficult evening for the Spanish champions by imposing their physicality on Madrid.

And Jarque – widely known as Fali – spearheaded that approach by appearing to whack Rodrygo to the ground in a bizarre off-the-ball incident.

The 21-year-old Brazilian was trying to get in front of Fali when he received an arm in the face which sent him tumbling to the floor.

And Rodrygo was left furious about the incident after the game.

And Vinicius Jr, 22, who was accused of winding Fali up by calling Cadiz a second rate team, also reacted on social media.

The Brazilian superstar said: “Thank God one more match without injury. See you soon, Madridista! .”

But Fali responded: “I give him a little bit, a lot, but it’s not to hurt him. It’s not an elbow.

“With the image stopped, it seems more than it is. I apologised quickly.”

Earlier this week, both Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr made it into the Brazil squad for the World Cup later this month.
