And in a video update the Icelander, who’s back in powerlifiting after two years off for boxing, displayed a huge purple bruise that he says is only getting bigger.

But the 34-year-old is “optimistic” he’ll recover fully as he jets to the USA for surgery in Los Angeles from a specialist.

The Mountain had live-streamed his accident before appearing with a sling around his left arm.

But in his latest clip he said: “I am positive, I am optimistic. I can move my arm, there’s not really huge discomfort now.”

He did add, though: “The swelling is getting worse. Every day it gets worse and worse.”

Bjornsson then filmed his trip to a doctor in Iceland, who told him he had a “huge tear” in the muscle and tendon area.

The doc said that means “it will not be easy to say until after the surgery how easy it will be to repair it completely”.

Bjornsson turned to the camera as he responded: “Obviously I want to do the surgery as quickly as possible because the sooner I do it then sooner I can recover.”

The doc then added: “I’m almost certain that’s possible to repair – most of it but I’m not sure completely all. We will have to see in the surgery.

“Usually it will heal very well. It will heal with a certain amount of scar tissue so you will have to have good physiotherapy – six to 12 weeks to heal.”

Bjornsson retained his calm good spirit throughout.

And he issued a buoyant message for fans.
