Greater Manchester Police’s gag about Man City’s treble win hilariously backfires as fans all make same point
A POLICE gag about “expensive silverware taken from Istanbul” backfired as fans pointed out the other charges face by Manchester City.
The Greater Manchester Police left some people in stitches with an online warning – but were stitched up themselves by the response of others.

The GMP used City‘s Treble glory to alert locals about keeping valuables secure.
Spain midfielder Rodri clinched a 1-0 Champions League final victory over Inter Milan in Turkey following Premier League and FA Cup success.
But although fans applauded police for their wit in turning the win to their advantage, many pounced on the fact City stand accused of 115 breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations.
The GMP put up a warning poster on social media along with a clever message.
They wrote: “We have received intel that expensive silverware has recently been taken from Istanbul.
“Suspects include a Spanish national, who is believed to have led the group.
“Intel suggests they may be en route to Manchester… Help keep yourself safe from burglary with these tips.”
Fans leapt in with responses like: “That’s now 116 charges.”

Similar points included: “Charge them 115 times!!!” and “There’s 115 unaddressed charges against them if you have time on your hands “
Another fan who didn’t sound like a City supporter noted how they survived three incredible chances from Inter late on to hold on for their historic triumph.
Suggesting Pep Guardiola‘s men were sinners not winners, he wrote: “All of this on top of daylight robbery.”
Other social media, however, congratulated police for their humour.
Such observations included: “Haha Bravo” and “Well done”
But with fans split on where it was a an own goal or a fine joke, perhaps GMP should hand their investigation over to INTER-LOL.
