Golf fans LOVE Jon Rahm after Europe Ryder Cup star’s brilliant reaction to Sam Burns’ tee shot

GOLF fans were absolutely loving Jon Rahm on the opening day of the Ryder Cup.

And his simply brilliant reaction to Sam Burns’ wayward drive only endeared him to the Rome crowd even more.

Jon Rahm could not resist the chance of a cheeky dig at Sam Burns

American Burns teed off with him and Scottie Scheffler trailing four down against Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton in the opening foursomes match.

But the 27-year-old rookie could not keep his golf ball straight, instead sending it way left.

And video footage of the tee box showed Rahm hilariously pointing his left arm out to signal the direction of the erroneous drive as he walked behind Burns.

As a dejected Burns watches on forlorn, there is a shout of “fore left” and the European fans’ excitement rises.

But all the attention online went to Rahm for his response – although it is common for players, caddies and officials to point to where the ball is heading as a warning to spectators on the course.

One fan said: “How good is this.”

Another wrote: “Love to see it.”

A third added: “Brilliant.”

Barring an F-bomb caught on TV, Rahm enjoyed a phenomenal Friday at Marco Simone, earning a thumping 4&3 foursomes win before linking up with Nicolai Hojgaard for the afternoon fourballs.

The Masters champ chipped in THREE times and clattered the pin as he almost secured a superb hole-in-one.

And he kept his cool under immense pressure to produce a simply scintillating moment on the 18th green.

His eagle putt jumped up as it hit the hole and landed in the cup to secure a dramatic comeback tie and another half-point – plus a bitter jab from salty Brooks Koepka.

Rahm celebrated his magical day with a kiss from his glamorous wife Kelley and was on hand to roar his approval at Justin Rose, who also sunk a crunch putt on the 18th to ensure the United States did not win a single match on a thrilling opening day at the Ryder Cup.

Europe lead 6½-1½ after day one in Rome as they look to regain the iconic trophy.
