Ghanaian striker Nana Akosah-Bempah set to attain university degree in South Africa

Ghanaian striker Nana Akosah-Bempah is set to attain a university degree in South Africa, where he has been playing since 2016.The 23-year-old revealed that he will complete his Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with University of South Africa (UNISA) this year.Nanas football career has retreated over the last year-and-a-half after terminating his contract with Cape Town City and then joining Orlando Pirates feeder team in the South African third-tier, however, his focus has been on education.”I am in my final year of studying this year so should be completing my degree this year. Education has always been a priority for my family so that is why I have had to continue studying through all the years that I have also been playing football,” he tellsKickOff.com.”Regardless of where I could have been playing my football right now, I wouldnt have gotten away with not studying when it comes to my family.”Akosah-Bempah, who is of Ghanaian origin but was born in the USA, is the son of renowned chartered accountant and corporate world leader Kwaku Akosah-Bempah.The 23-year-old feels his decision to move down to the third-tier league was necessary.”I missed some stages of my development as a football player, so I feel coming down to play in this league was necessary in building me towards becoming a better footballer,” he says.”The plus was that in coming here I was joining a coach [Cayl Coetzee] who knew me as we had previously worked together at Black Aces.”Though his origins are in Ghana and he was born in the USA, he has also lived in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
