Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu suffers fresh injury at Southampton

Defender Mohammed Salisu is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a fresh injury at Southampton.The Ghanaian center back who is yet to make his debut for the Saints is expected to be out for weeks after picking a muscle problem in training.Salisu was inching close to his debut after making the matchday squad six times since the start of December.However, he was conspicuously missing when the Saint Marys outfit defeated champions Liverpool on Monday night.After the game, manager Ralph Hassenhutl revealed the Ghanaian has a muscle problem which ruled him out of the match.”Again, muscle injuries, said Hassenhutl.Malian forward Moussa Djenepo was also withdrawn with what appeared to be a hamstring injury during the first half against Liverpool.”Moussa looks not so good because we have a few muscle injuries now, which are not really good for us because the squad is getting smaller,” said Hasenhuttl.”We must have a look how bad it is. He added.The Austrian tactician had to name teenager Kegs Chauke and young defenders Kayne Ramsay, Yan Valery and Jake Vokins due to the absence of Salisu and other first team players.The 21-year-old Ghanaian joined the Saints in the summer transfer window for 10.9 million from La Liga side Real Valladolid.
