Ghanaâs Mohammed Salisu will stay at Southampton despite transfer rumours
Reports linking Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu back to Real Valladolid has been debunked by the British media.Salisu joined Premier League side Southampton from Real Valladolid for a fee of around 11 million in the summer. The 21-year-old is yet to feature for the Saints despite making the substitutes bench on six occasions.Earlier last week, reports emerged in the media that the budding centre-back is heading back to Spain in the ongoing winter transfer market after failing to adapt to the English culture. The claims have however been squashed by Athletics Dan Sheldon, who has confirmed on Twitter that the Ghanaian is part of long-term plans for Saints once he returns from his latest injury issue.
Sheldon believes this weekends would have been an ideal opportunity for Salisu to make his debut in the FA Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town, but his injury and the postponement of the match now see him waiting a little longer.
