Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu delighted by ‘perfect’ Southampton debut
Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has described his Southampton debut as ‘perfect’ after helping the Saints to advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.The 21-year-old lasted the entire duration as second-half goals from Danny Ings and Stuart Armstrong sealed victory at the Molineux.Salisu who joined from Real Valladolid in the summer had to wait for months to make his debut due to injuries and fitness issues.However, last night the swashbuckling defender showed why the Saints spent 10.9 million to sign him.”It’s a perfect night, I’m really happy to be back with the team,” the Ghanaian centre-back said after the game. “The team really did well and worked hard, I’m very happy.”I’m very excited for a clean sheet, it’s very important. It was a great boost really, we are going to give our all on Sunday.”I think we need to focus on the next round, fight hard together and I think we’ll go further.
