Gerald Asamoah lavish praises on hat-trick hero Mathew Hoppe as Schalke end 30 game winless run

Schalke U23 manager Gerald Asamoah has lauded American teen Mathew Hoppe after his hat-trick against Hoffenheim ended Schalkes 30 game winless run in the Bundesliga. The youngster was nurtured by the German-Ghanaian coach before earning promotion to the senior side.Hoppe repaid the faith reposed in him by Christian Gross, scoring a hat-trick as Schalke won for the first time this season 4-0 against Hoffenheim.I know his weaknesses but I also know what he excels at namely his absolute desire in front of goal and his composure, said Asamoah, who scored 61 goals in 359 appearances for Schalke between 1999 and 2010, and six in 43 caps for Germany, in an interview with kicker.Asamoah continued, not only because he took all three of his goals well, but because he is constantly developing. Hes able to do that because he constantly questions himself. And you can see where that can lead.Hes an inspiration in every respect for all young players, and especially for my players in the U23s. Theyve now seen again that the path to the first team is always open to them thats historically been the case at Schalke perhaps more than at many other clubs.
