Davies hit the opening goal for Sierra Leone in a 2-1 win over Djibouti on Wednesday.

This was his second cap, having already appeared in a 2-0 friendly victory over Somalia in Morocco.

But this week’s game was his competitive debut and he is said to be the oldest international debutant to score in a World Cup qualifier.

While Davies was born in east London his dad Eugene was born and raised in Sierra Leone.

Curtis was named in Fabio Capello’s first England squad in January 2008.

While he previously played three times for the U21s he never made a cap for the Three Lions.

At the end of this season, he left Cheltenham following the club’s final-day relegation to League Two.

And his former boss Darrell Clarke expected Davies to hang up his boots.

But Davies is now living his international dream as he looks to continue playing with the West African nation.
