Football star rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after being kicked in the privates during training

A DANISH footballer was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after he managed to crack a testicle – but has announced he can still have more kids.

Lasse Nielsen, 35, took a horror kick downstairs from Malmo team-mate Hugo Bolin in training.

And the gruesome blow from his defender earlier in March required him to go under the knife that evening to repair the damage.

Incredibly, though, just two weeks later Nielsen is back in full training and ready and raring to go again – just in time for the start of the new Allsvenskan season in Sweden.

Nielsen, who played against Chelsea in the Champions League last season, said: “The blow felt like it usually does when you get hit in the crotch. 

“But the pain didn’t go away after four or five minutes – that was what I was not used to.

“My one testicle got a small crack.  It was sewn up.

“The doctors said I can still have more children.

“There is no problem with just one testicle – that is still fine. Everything is as it should be.

“Hugo had the ball at his feet. I got behind him, he turned to the right and I put my arm and leg in front of him.

“When he was about to turn the testicle got squeezed or took a blow from his hip. It was pure bad luck. Maybe it was my own fault.

“I couldn’t do much in the first week after surgery. I sat on the couch, went to the bathroom or drank water in the kitchen.

“Every time I got up it was like getting a knife straight into my abdomen.  It hurt so much.

“It is hard to be careful when you have two kids, who are used to their dad being down on the floor with them playing.  The first week was tough.

“When I told my team-mates what happened, it hurt them too – but we can laugh about it together.”

Malmo get their season underway against Kalmar on Saturday – with Nielsen eyeing up a fourth league title with the club to add to his Danish and Belgian winner’s medals.

But the one-cap Denmark centre-back is not planning to take any extra precautions on the field.

He added to Fotboll Skane: “You can do that but we’ll see what kind of solutions we come up with.

“Extra tape or something. I don’t know what… maybe it hurts a little to remove.”
