That is until it arrived in the post with a hand written note from the most unlikely of people, former Charlton and West Ham manager Alan Curbishley.
It read: “Dear Oliver, I hope this finds you well. I found your wallet on a tube in London. Hopefully it has not caused you too much stress! Now you can get in to see your team. Best wishes, Alan Curbishley.”
Oli was quick to take to Twitter and share the news.
He said: ” Alan Curbishley, of all people, found my wallet on the tube in London and sent it to Bescot, what a bloke.”
Fans were full of praise for Curbishley as they responded to the tweet which has been viewed 470,000 times.
One user said: ” I would expect no less from the great man.”
Another added: “Class from gaffer.”
A third added: “Doesn’t Curbs seem just the most likely manager to go out of his way to return a lost wallet? I’d back Steve Cooper from the current crop.”
Curbishley managed Charlton Athletic from 1991-2006 before managing West Ham from 2006-2008.
He famously kept the Hammers up following a 1-0 final day victory at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from Carlos Tevez.
