ARSENAL could complete a last-gasp signing of a striker following the arrival of Mikel Merino.

The Gunners have been active in the last week of the window with Merino joining in a £32million deal from Real Sociedad.

There are also outgoings on the cards with Fabio Vieira moving to Porto on loan.

Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace for £30m and his departure would leave Mikel Arteta short in attack.

He has opted to play Kai Havertz as a false nine in Arsenal‘s opening two Premier League games with Gabriel Jesus unavailable due to injury.

But the title challengers could add to their attack with several strikers linked, including three who already play in the Prem.

Here are five players Arsenal have their sights on before the transfer window closes on Friday.

Darwin Nunez

New Liverpool boss Arne Slot left Nunez out of his starting line-up against Ipswich and Brentford, casting doubt over the Uruguayan’s future at Anfield.

Arsenal have been tipped to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the striker, who would reportedly cost around £73million.

The 25-year-old has scored 33 goals in 94 games since joining the Reds two years ago but could be allowed to leave with Liverpool trying to complete a move for Juventus star Federico Chiesa.

Victor Osimhen

The Napoli hitman has been the topic of intense speculation for several months and earlier this year hinted at a switch to the Prem.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Osimhen, who has reportedly been subject to a £55m bid from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli.

Manchester United are also interested in Osimhen, 25, who has scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton could look to cash in on Calvert-Lewin as he has entered the final year of his contract.

He has attracted interest from Chelsea and Newcastle but Arsenal reportedly like him as a cheaper alternative to their other targets.

Calvert-Lewin, 27, would add height to the Gunners attack but his injury record may be of concern to Arteta, though he did make 32 league appearances last season, scoring seven goals.

Alexander Isak

Isak has been a long-term target for Arsenal and was expected to make a move to the Emirates in January 2022, before he joined Newcastle.

The Magpies signed Isak, 24, for £63m and told Chelsea to cough up £115m when they came calling in January.

Isak has also played down talk of him leaving Newcastle which may lead Arsenal to turn to another target.

Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal have also liked Gyokeres for several months and were tipped to make a move after he scored 49 goals in 54 games in his debut season for Sporting Lisbon.

He would demand a significant transfer fee but could be allowed to leave with the striker himself admitting he “does not know what will happen”.

Gyokeres, 26, reportedly has an £85m release clause which the Gunners will likely need to meet to get the deal across the line.
