EUROPA LEAGUE TAKES SHAPE AS MOST MATCHES END IN A DRAW
The UEFA Europa League has taken shape as teams fight it out for semi -final places. Three out of the four matches played at the Quarter Finals ended in a draw.
FC Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. The Bundesliga side scored first before Ferran Torres equalized for the Spanish giants. Both goals came in the second half.
Frankfurt played the last 12 minutes with 10 men after defender Tuta was given a red card.
English side WestHam United also failed to take advantage of home advantage as they were held by Olympique Lyon. Aaron Cresswell got a red card at the 45 minute and the Hammers were forced to play with 10 men for the whole second half.
Jarrod Bowen got the first goal on the 52nd minute for the Hammers. Tanguy Ndombele the equalized for Lyon 14 minutes later after Westham had taken the lead.
Atalanta also secured an away draw in Germany at RB Leipzig. Luis Muriel scored first for Atalanta at the 17th minute with Davide Zappacosta scored an own goal to give Leipzig.
Sporting Braga were the only side that got a win. Abel Ruiz scored the only goal with just 5 minutes to end the first half. Rangers tried as much as possible to get an equalizer but could not find the net.
The second leg of all matches would be played next week in the reverse fixtures.
