EPL: Erik ten Hag’s First Signing For Man United Revealed
Manchester United is hoping to make Dutch professional football manager, Erik ten Hag its permanent manager ahead of next summer.
The English Premier League club has reportedly interviewed the Ajax coach in a bid to replace its interim coach Ralf Rangnick.
Telegraph reports that if things go well, Hag’s first signing for United will be Brazilian Ajax winger, Antony.
Paris Saint Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino and Spain head coach, Luis Enrique were on United’s search list too but Dutchman Hag reportedly becomes the club’s favourite after making a big impression during his formal interview.
Hag is said to have asked about Manchester United’s vision and transfer budget.
The Telegraph quoted the tactical coach as saying he would bring the Brazil international Anthony with him.
Naija News understands that Anthony has been impressive in his performances lately at Ajax under Hag.
The young lad has netted 10 goals and laid on 8 assists in 30 appearances across both the Eredivisie and Champions League this season after also registering 17 goal contributions in the league last season.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation has tendered an unreserved apology to the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria for the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for this year’s FIFA World Cup finals holding in Qatar.
NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi regretted that the team failed to qualify despite the enormous support of the Government and the good people of Nigeria who turned out in throngs to fill up the 60,491 –capacity Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja for the clash with Ghana’s Black Stars on Tuesday.
“There was nothing the team needed that was lacking. The Government provided necessary support; the NFF put all logistics in place with the active support of the Sports Ministry and; Nigerians turned out en masse to support the team. The truth is that we left nothing to chance. It is sad that things turned out the way they did.
“Sport is about winning and losing. Nobody wants to lose but sometimes it happens that way. We are quite sad that despite playing a draw in Kumasi, the Super Eagles could not win here in Abuja. We apologise unreservedly to the Government and people of Nigeria for this non-qualification.”
