But Searle produced an amazing darts showing from the off.

With the game underway, the ace hit an incredible nine-darter in the first leg of the DAY to put himself in the driving seat.

Searle hit three T20s with his first throws.

And he followed that up with two T20s and a T19.

That left him with a score of 144 to check out.

Searle then defied the odds to hit two more T20s, leaving himself with just 24.

And a perfect hit on the D12 saw the star take home the first leg.

However, the referee got a bit carried away as he announced that Searle had won the MATCH.

As he hit his final dart, the official declared: “Game, shot and the match.”

It left both Searle and Richardson looking perplexed, with the former jokingly saying: “The match?!”

The two players then laughed and gave each other a fist-bump.

While the red-faced ref said: “Ah no, not the match. Nearly!”

Fans found the situation, as well as Searle’s early nine-darter, a fascinating watch.

One said: “Well that was a short match.”

Another declared: “A 9 darted automatically wins the match! If only they would!”
