McGregor, 34, posted a mocked up image of himself holding belts from both promotions.

Accompanying the snap, he wrote: “It’s inevitable.”

Wrestler turned promoter Heyman, 57, wasn’t having it, however, labelling McGregor a “Roman Reigns wannabe”.

McGregor responded furiously to Heyman’s jibe.

He wrote: “Careful Grampa. I’ll show up and break your jaw in 3 places.”

The UFC and WWE will merge to form a new publicly traded company – with Endeavour owning 51 per cent and WWE shareholders getting the remaining 49 per cent – and the resulting company worth a reported £16.9billion.

Dana White will retain his position as UFC president following the deal.

While Vince McMahon, sporting a whole new look, returned as WWE chairman in January to oversee the sale – having bought the company from his father in 1982.

The news came hot off the heels of Reigns’ Wrestlemania 39 success.

Following his triumph over the weekend, the 37-year-old dubbed himself the “greatest of all time”.

McGregor, meanwhile, recently threatened to “slaughter” Carl Froch in the cage as their feud escalated.

Froch had claimed that he “could take” McGregor because he’s “too small”.

The Notorious responded: “Get this signed up lad.”

Days later, McGregor added: “I’ll slaughter Froch and Grove at the same time in the cage.”
