Chelsea fans rage after being denied ‘stonewall penalty’ vs Liverpool as Gallagher goes down under Van Dijk challenge
CHELSEA fans fumed at being denied a “stonewall ” penalty against Liverpool.
Conor Gallagher pleaded with referee Paul Tierney to point to the spot after he went down after a Virgil van Dijk challenge.
Gallagher breezed past the defender in the Liverpool box and appeared to clash with Van Dijk.
But Tierney waved play on and VAR refused to intervene – leaving Chelsea fans raging.
One said: “That’s a stonewall penalty like how has it not been given?”
Another added: “That was a clear penalty.”
One fumed: “Van Dijk wraps his hand around Conor Gallagher like they are married. How is that not a penalty.”
Another argued: “How is that not a penalty? Gallagher is literally getting a shot on goal otherwise.”
