Chelsea chaos as Conor Gallagher ‘ordered to fly back to London’ with Atletico transfer hanging by a thread

CONOR GALLAGHER has been told to fly back to London amid chaos surrounding his potential transfer to Atletico Madrid.

The England midfielder, 24, looked poised to join the LaLiga side after jetting off to Spain on Friday and completing his medical.

But then a £35m deal for Atletico striker Samu Omorodion to move the other way collapsed, putting the Gallagher deal in jeopardy.

This was due to the length of Omorodion’s contract and a muscular problem he picked up while winning gold for Spain at the Olympics.

It has since been reported the Blues have bid £54m for Atletico man Joao Felix.

This would see Portugal international Felix return for a second stint at Stamford Bridge following a loan spell in 2023.

But negotiations for that deal are not set to stop Gallagher from being ordered to return to London while his future remains unclear.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Chelsea man is preparing to book flights and head back to England on Tuesday.

It is also understood Chelsea see all transfers as “separate” and “independent”.

Documents for Atletico to complete Gallagher’s move are ready to be signed.
