But Palmer stuck away a last-gasp penalty… and somehow still found time to hit a winner 82 seconds later – prompting utter chaos in West London.

The Blues raced into a 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge inside 19 minutes.

But Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes struck within five minutes before the break to level it up.

Then the Argentine nodded in from Antony’s superb outside-of-the-boot cross to turn the game around midway through the second half.

However, Diogo Dalot’s bungling challenge gifted Chelsea a penalty deep into injury time.

Palmer kept his composure to stick away his second spot-kick of the night then his speculative strike deflected in off Scott McTominay.

It brought the curtain down on a ridiculous night of football – and secured Chelsea’s first Premier League win over United since 2017.
