While Newcastle’s semi-final affair with Southampton was more of a contest, but the Magpies ran out 3-1 winners on aggregate.
It’s no secret that many view winning the Carabao Cup as less of a priority than lifting the FA Cup or the Premier League.
However, winners of the competition are guaranteed a place in Europe along with the prize pot.

How much is the Carabao Cup prize money?
There is a total prize pot of £1million for the whole Carabao Cup competition.
But teams collect a cheque every time they progress into the next round.
First round winners – £5,000
Second round winners – £7,000
Third round winners – £10,000
Fourth round winners – £15,000
Quarter-finalists – £25,000
Semi-finalists – £25,000
Runner-up – £50,000
Winner – £100,000
How much is the total prize money for winning the Carabao Cup?
Premier League clubs who have qualified for the Champions League or Europa League enter in the third round.
While the remaining sides in England’s top-flight division play from round two.
So if a team who has qualified for Europe wins the competition, they’ll take home £225,000, whereas other sides would collect £232,000 for playing an extra round.
But should a team who enters from the first hurdle win the tournament, they would take home a £237,000 windfall for winning all of the rounds.

Liverpool earned £100,000 for beating Chelsea on penalties in last season’s Carabao Cup final which is the same as this year.
