Bryony Frost: Frodon in top form for Kempton and why I can’t wait to team up with this red-hot trainer
WHEN they talk about horses for courses, you can’t get a much better fit than Frodon and Kempton.
It’s the scene of one of our biggest triumphs, in the 2020 King George, and we’re back there again today for the Coral Trophy.

Obviously he loves the place as much as ever, as he proved when he was third behind Bravemansgame on Boxing Day, which was an extremely good run.
I ride him most days at home, and he is still as enthusiastic as ever, and hopefully the ground will stay on the dry side.
Frode carries top weight, and that can be a struggle for some horses, but he showed with the way he won the Badger Beer Chase in November that he can handle it.
He dominated that one, stayed on very strongly at the end and is holding his form very well.
So fingers crossed it will be more of the same today.
Paul Nicholls runs three in the race and all of us look to have decent chances, starting with Saint Calvados, who will enjoy the company of being in a bigger field.

Hopefully that will help him settle better and not pull so hard . . . and if so, then he should go very close.
Enrilo is a very talented horse, who has just been a bit unlucky in his career.
He’s got a nice weight this afternoon and that should give him a huge chance too.
I follow the ride on Frode with Halo Des Obeaux, who is back over hurdles this afternoon after a mishap at Musselburgh last time, when we suffered a very heavy fall.
Fortunately both of us escaped unscathed. We were fine and the two of us were back in work the next day, so let’s see how he goes over the smaller obstacles.
He was impressive when he won at Sandown in November, in a race he dominated.
We will get our jumping back on the straight and narrow and he will be thereabouts today.
I finish up riding Highway One O Five for the excellent Chris Gordon, in a Bumper where most of the field are having their debut run.
I enjoy riding these young horses, and discovering what sort of engine they’ve got, and am looking forward to getting out on track with him.
It’s great to be teaming up with Chris again, who continues in brilliant form and has a strike-rate of nearly 40 per cent over the past two weeks.
