With the pressure on Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s side did not crumble and were deserved winners against the Seagulls.

Yet they were helped by referee John Brooks, who awarded them a controversial penalty after Tariq Lamptey caught the ball and Gabriel Jesus in the box.

Bukayo Saka stepped up and converted the spot-kick.

After half-time, Kai Havertz made it 2-0, tapping home a Jorginho cross.

Leandro Trossard came off the bench to seal the three points with a clever chipped finish after being booed by his former supporters.

Arsenal are top of the league on 71 points, Liverpool are one behind and face Man Utd tomorrow, and Man City are on 70 points in third on goal difference.

THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY...
