AN unusual clause in Armando Broja’s contract could see Fulham pay next to nothing for the striker.

Broja’s Deadline Day move was in doubt earlier in the window with the Blues reportedly demanding a £5million loan fee.

Both Fulham and Wolves refused to match the asking price before a huge twist in negotiations.

Desperate to offload him this month, Chelsea lowered their demands and struck a bizarre deal with their West London rivals.

If Broja makes ten starts and plays a certain amount of minutes, Fulham will pay almost zero for him.

But should he not feature in enough games, the club will have to pay a maximum fee of £4m.

His arrival comes at the perfect time for Marco Silva‘s side, who have scored just one goal in their last four outings.

And striker Raul Jimenez limped off injured during Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Everton.

Fulham have 16 matches of the season remaining after crashing out both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

After signing for the club, Broja said: “It feels amazing.

“I’m really happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started, meet the players and manager and play for the fans.

“The fans always play a big role and I can’t wait to go to Craven Cottage and meet them all.

“I’m going to work hard for the team and create a real bond. I’m really honoured and excited to be here.”

Broja scored two goals in 19 games for Chelsea this term.

But should he not hit that mark, then the club will have to give Chelsea a maximum fee of £4m.

The Blues were hoping to offload him permanently in January to help balance the books and comply with FFP regulations.

Chelsea will be hopeful he impresses at Craven Cottage so plenty of clubs are interested in signing him come the summer.

Selling Broja will help the club financially as he is a homegrown player and funds will count as 100 per cent profit.
