Bernard Mensah lucky after missing spot-kick as Besiktas progresses to Turkish Cup semifinalÂ
Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah had his penalty saved as Besiktas beat Konyaspor 3-2 on penalties to book a place in the Turkish Cup semifinals.Besiktas held Konyaspor to a 1-1 draw at the Medas Konya Buyuksehir Stadium with the game heading into extra time.Besiktas took the lead in the minute 13 as Turkish midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup scored the opener.Konyaspor pulled the level four minutes later. Turkish defender Abdulkerim Bardakci put the ball into Besiktas net with a header.The game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes with the penalty shoot-out needed to separate the two sides in this tie.Besiktas won 3-2 on penalties as Rachid Ghezzal, Valentin Rosier and Necip Uysal converted their penalties successfully.Bernard Mensah was the only player to miss his penalty for Besiktas despite going on to win the game.Besiktas will face Medipol Basaksehir in the Turkish Cup’s semifinal stage.
