Ben Stokes breaks record for highest individual England ODI score EVER with swashbuckling 182 vs New Zealand at the Oval

BEN STOKES has recorded a record 182 runs for England in today’s ODI against New Zealand.

He has surpassed previous record holder Jason Roy, who hit 180 in 2018 against Australia.

On his way to racking up the record score, Stokes hit his fastest ever century while representing England.

Stokes, who came in at fourth in the batting order and helped England arrest a sluggish start.

The batsman was in a hurry to reach his century as he achieved the ton off just 76 balls.

Stokes hit 15 fours and nine sixes on his way to achieving the record 182 sore.

That came off the back of facing 124 balls.

Stokes’ brilliant performance came off the back of England’s opener Jonny Bairstow getting out for a golden duck off the very first ball of the international.

Dawid Malan fared better as he recorded 96 runs before being caught by Tom Latham off a Trent Boult ball.

But Joe Root scored just four runs before Ben Stokes came in.

England were all out for 368 after 48 overs with New Zealand now needing a mammoth 369 to win.

The four match series is currently tied at 1-1 following England’s victory at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday.

New Zealand recorded the first win of the series in Cardiff after following England’s 291 score with 297 runs.
