BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024 betting odds: Kane and Bellingham favourites, Luke Littler drifts to 16/1

HARRY KANE is favourite to be crowned the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

That’s according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who’ve installed the England captain at 8/1 to clinch the award that is dished out in December.

The Bayern Munich centre-forward, 30, will lead the Three Lions out at this summer’s European Championships in Germany.

Gareth Southgate’s side are one of the favourites to win the tournament, which would represent England’s first major men’s trophy since the 1966 World Cup.

Whoever is most influential for England in a successful campaign would likely see them become a short-priced favourite for SPOTY, and that’s perhaps why Jude Bellingham is next at 10/1 in the betting markets.

Mark Cavendish, who delayed plans to retire, is next at 14/1.

The Brit will compete in this year’s Tour de France having signed a new one-year contract with his Astana-Qazaqstan team.

The decision means Cavendish will have the chance to break the record of 34 Tour stage wins which he shares with legend Eddy Merckx.

Teenage sensation Luke Littler drifted from 4/1 to 16/1 after defeat to Luke Humphries in the PDC World Darts Championship.

The 16-year-old dismantled two former winners as he stormed into the World Championship final, becoming the youngest finalist in the process.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson came third in the 2023 SPOTY awards after her impressive World Championship victory in Budapest.

She’s available at 16/1 ahead of the Paris Olympics, which takes place between July 26th and August 11.

Athletics does notoriously well in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, winning it 18 times with Formula One the next closest with eight and football with seven.

WBC champion Tyson Fury is offered at 16/1.

Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will fight for the undisputed heavyweight title on 17 February in Saudi Arabia with the winner set to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999.

England cricket captain Ben Stokes is also offered at 16/1 ahead of this year’s tour of India and T20 World Cup in June.
