Athletes stop watching Olympics closing ceremony as Paris 2024 breakdancing contestants upstage official show
BREAKDANCERS upstaged the Olympics closing ceremony as Olympians opted to watch them instead.
The Paris Olympics came to a thrilling end at the Stade de France in a ceremony featuring music and Hollywood Tom Cruise.

Athletes paraded into the capital city stadium after three weeks of competing.
They watched on as the Olympic flag was passed onto the Americans ahead of the LA games in 2028.
However, some were more interested in watching the breakdancers perform.
Footage from the stands showed the athletes standing in a circle around the breakdancers.
The three in the centre could be seen spinning on their backs as their fellow athletes applauded them.
Viewers were convinced that the breakdancers were upstaging the closing ceremony speeches.
One posted: “I recognize that it was when there were speeches.”

A second wrote: “When the athletes of breakdance do a counter show to the closing ceremony.”
A third commented: “More breakdancing in the closing ceremony than in the breakdancing event.”

Another added: “Was so hoping someone would start breakdancing in the middle of the ceremony and then they did, amazing to see.”
There were plenty of eye-catching moments in the Olympic closing ceremony.
This includes Tom Cruise pulling off a spectacular stunt as he slid down a rope from the Stade de France roof.
Some athletes were even told off after they went rogue and stormed the stage.

TOP ROCK
This is stand-up dancing, routines always start with this and feature cross-step and Salsa step.
FOOTWORK
When breakers are down on all fours from a low squat position, doing footwork patterns and steps including hooks and kicks.
GO DOWNS
This is the transition from Top Rock to Footwork, including the Knee Switch and Rock Drop.
FREEZES
Where breakers hold a position or pose during a routine, acting as a pause or ‘comma’ before going again – from the simple to the extraordinary.
POWER MOVES
These are the big wow moves, the ultimate crowd-pleasers, the impressive show-stoppers: flicks, tricks, headspins, air flares, munchmills or windmills.
B-Boys and B-Girls are judged on three categories…
Body – this is the physical aspect and incorporates the execution and the flow of the dance by the breakers
Soul – this is the interpretation aspect, how the breakers interpret the music, the competition, the specific battle, the room and how they display their character and bounce off the energy
Mind – this is the artistic aspect, taking into consideration the creativity of the breakers
