ASHANTI REGIONAL POLICE ALTERED KICKOFF TIME FOR KOTOKO – HEARTS MATCH

The kickoff time for the match between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have been altered from 18:00 GMT to 15:00 GMT. It has been revealed that the change was initiated by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

DCOP Isaac Ken Yeboah, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander influenced the kickoff time for the match. The two rivals lock hons on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Kumasi.

Mr. Ken Yeboah took this initiative as a result of the report by Okudzeto Commission’s. The Commission was tasked to look into the 2001, May 9 disaster. The report advised that matches between the two sides should not be played under flood lights.

The Central Divisional Commander and The District Commander of Asokwa were tasked Mr. Yeboah to look into the report and confirm the contradiction of the kickoff time.

A letter was then sent to the Ghana Football Association to effect the changes and stick to the recommended time by the report.

Kotoko and Hearts of Oak recently played under flood lights in the 2022 President’s Cup. This was the first the encounter under floodlights after the 2001 disaster.

The match was played at the Accra Sports Stadium and the Phobians won 2-1.
