The competition’s most successful side in Arsenal clash with title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates this weekend.
The 14-time winners arrive after successive defeats to Fulham and West Ham, and find themselves in fourth position – five adrift from leaders Liverpool.
But the FA Cup could represent a good opportunity for Arsenal to let off the handbrake and rediscover their best form heading into the second half of the campaign.
There are no such issues for Liverpool, who enjoyed a successful festive period with three wins in their last four.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been excellent, especially in attack with 12 goals scored in their last four outings – including an xG of 7.20 against Newcastle.
It’s a tricky one to call.

Diogo gotcha
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota looks overpriced to have a big impact in this third-round FA Cup contest.
The Portuguese international, 27, is fit again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines and has already bagged a goal and two assists in just over 30 minutes of competitive action.
He’s struck nine goals in 19 appearances in the 2023-24 campaign, including four in five cup competitions (Europa League and Carabao Cup).
In fact, Jota is something of a cup specialist having scored 30 goals in 79 appearances including his time at Wolves and in Portugal. He also boasts an amazing record against Arsenal, scoring eight in 13 games against the London outfit.

Diaz carded
Liverpool’s Luis Diaz looks a good bet to be carded this weekend. The Colombia international has picked up two cautions this season, and both arrived in his last five outings.
No Liverpool player has committed more fouls than Diaz this season, who has been penalised 27 times in 1176 minutes of Premier League action – which equates to a foul every 43 minutes.
Diaz has faced Arsenal three times in his career and has booked on his last visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Jesus delivers
It should be a fairly open game with both sides considering this as something of a free hit.
Both sides have bigger fish to fry in the Premier League and are expected to challenge for European silverware.
That could be good news for striker Gabriel Jesus, who has been involved in 16 goals in 20 FA Cup appearances, scoring 10 and assisting six.
His most recent appearance in the competition was against Liverpool, providing an assist in Manchester City’s 3-2 semi-final defeat in 2021-22.
