Arsenal star Gabriel reveals the club he would join ‘tomorrow’ after being linked with transfer exit from Gunners

ARSENAL star Gabriel Magalhaes has revealed the club he would join “tomorrow” if given the chance.

The Brazilian, 26, has become a key man at the Emirates since signing from Lille in 2020.

During the last two seasons in particular he has forged a solid partnership with William Saliba.

Gabriel did not start any of Arsenal‘s first three Premier League matches last season, amid transfer interest from Saudi Arabia.

He then returned to prominence, starting 34 of the Gunners’ remaining 35 Prem games.

Six-cap centre-back Gabriel is currently preparing to take part in the Copa America after being named in the Brazil squad.

Chatting to ESPN Brazil in the build-up to the tournament, the Arsenal star revealed that he still dreams of playing at his boyhood team.

He admitted: “My favourite club? Corinthians, that’s since I was born and today I don’t think it has to be any different.

“I still go to Corinthians games by train. It’s my dream, I want to play for Corinthians, I want to feel that energy.

“It’s something to think about. Sometimes I stop and think, ‘Do I dream of playing for Corinthians?’ I do.

“When would I play for Corinthians? For me, I’d be at Corinthians tomorrow.

“I hope it doesn’t take me long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible.”

Sao Paulo-born Gabriel began his career in his homeland with Avai.

He left the Brazilian side to sign for Lille in 2017, from whom he was subsequently sent on loan spells at Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb.

After becoming a regular at Lille he attracted plenty of attention, earning a move to Arsenal in 2020.

He has gone on to play 168 times for the Gunners, scoring 15 goals.
