Arsenal fans slam ‘liability’ who had ‘three chances to stop goal’ as Gunners lose 1-0 to Aston Villa

ARSENAL fans slammed Oleksandr Zinchenko after he failed to stop Aston Villa’s winner.

Unai Emery’s side beat the Gunners 1-0 to stretch their winning home run to 15 Premier League games.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was blamed for Aston Villa’s goalGetty

John McGinn scored the only goal just seven minutes into the contest with a brilliant spin and shot inside the box.

But Arsenal fans felt the goal should have been prevented and they blamed Zinchenko for missing three opportunities to stop the attack.

First the left-back allowed Leon Bailey to cut inside before failing to track the winger because he instead tried to pinch the ball off Youri Tielemans, who played the ball back to Bailey.

Gabriel was left exposed on the left and Bailey took him on before squaring to McGinn to score, with Zinchenko also too late arriving in the box to cut out that pass.

Gooners labelled Zinchenko a “liability” with some beginning to question his place in the team.

One fan said: “Zinchenko is a defensive liability!”

Another added: “Don’t think we can afford Zinchenko’s defensive frailty anymore, certainly not away in the Premier League.”

A third wrote: “Zinchenko is very very poor defensively. He was at fault last week for the goal we conceded and he was as well yesterday he vacated his position role yesterday thus conceding that goal….Imagine losing concentration 6mins into the game. Pathetic.”

And another commented: “Zinchenko should not be starting. He was like a headless chicken for their goal.”

Zinchenko was run ragged by Bailey throughout the match and was booked for pulling Tielemans’ shirt.

He was dropped against Luton following a mistake against Wolves but Arteta brought him back into the side after conceding three goals at Kenilworth Road.
