Arsenal chief Edu admits ‘there are things that mean I cannot say what I feel’ after Man City’s Premier League win

ARSENAL bigwig Edu admits he’s had to keep his true feelings about Manchester City’s latest title triumph to himself.

City pipped the Gunners to the Premier League title on the final day of the 23/24 season with a 3-1 win over West Ham.

Pep Guardiola‘s troops secured their fourth-straight league title – the first in Prem history – by a mere two points.

And the bitter pill of the club missing out on its first league title in 20 years is a tough one for Edu to swallow.

The Brazilian told Estadao: “There are things that unfortunately I cannot say what I feel. It’s a strange feeling, very strange!

“Because we end the season with the feeling that we’ve done everything right. From the signings and the goals to the renewals.

“Mikel did a great job and achieved the goals.

“We did everything we could, but it wasn’t enough. There’s frustration, but there’s also a positive feeling that the process was done well.

“The work was excellent.”

City, of course, still have a dark cloud hanging over their recent dominance of the Premier League.

The club are facing a whopping 115 charges of alleged breaches of Financial Fair Plays rules, which stem all the way back to the 2009-10 season.

The club have vehemently denied any wrongdoing and have vowed to prove their innocence.

Potential controversy aside, Edu admits Guardiola has turned the Citizens into an almost unstoppable winning machine.

He said: “But all the credit in the world to Pep for the training and work he’s been doing since he started his career.

“I even joke with my son that I want to see if he’s really good at rugby.

“It’s a joke I make because he’s already won everything in football.”

Missing out on the title on the final day has only served to motivate Mikel Arteta and his troops to go one better next season.

He told the Emirates faithful: “All this is happening because you started believing, you started to be patient, you started to understand what we were trying to do.

“All the credit has to go to the players and the staff, who are unbelievable.

“I think now it’s time to have a break, think, reflect, keep pushing, keep inspiring this team.

“Don’t be satisfied because we want much more than that and we’re going to get it.”
