Alan Shearer’s glam daughter Hollie puts aside his rivalry with Michael Owen to go braless in Gemma’s clothing range

THE daughters of footballing legends Alan Shearer and Michael Owen seem to have put their fathers rivalry aside following a post on social media.

And she added the caption: “How beautiful is this outfit from @gemowen_1 latest @prettylittlething collection AD.”

Hollie has more than 70,000 Instagram followers and is beginning to make a name for herself as a musician after supporting Sam Fender at her dad’s foundation evening last month.

But she has some way to go to receive the sort of publicity Gemma has following her Love Island appearance – with her Instagram followed by more than TWO MILLION people.

The glowing words from Hollie towards Gemma were a surprise to some as parents Shearer and Owen do not see eye to eye.

The England legends, who were once team-mates for club and country, were involved in a Twitter spat following the serialisation of Owen’s book, “Michael Owen: Reboot – My Life, My Time” released in 2020.

The pair traded insults on Twitter – bringing their simmering differences into the public domain.

A feud ignited over 10-years ago because of Shearer’s belief that Owen let him down during his ill-fated spell as manager of Newcastle in 2009, when the Magpies were relegated.

In an extract from his book, Owen writes: “He [Shearer] was brought in at St. James’ Park as the saviour, the local boy. It could have been a great story.

“But he failed. Newcastle United were relegated. Perhaps rather than examine his own shortcomings, it felt easier to blame Michael Owen.

“I was a week away from fitness for the final game of the season that saw Newcastle needing a point at Aston Villa to avoid relegation.

“I told him that I wasn’t fully fit but was prepared to play. As I left his office that day, he made an insinuation that led me to believe he thought I had half an eye on my next contract.

“I’m not stupid – we both knew I was out of contract in a few weeks.

“It wasn’t until three months later, I discovered that Alan Shearer was apparently seething with me.

“Not only that, it transpired that he was telling anyone who’d listen what he thought of me.

“When you analyse it, it all makes sense. Shearer’s record as manager in the last eight games of that 2008/2009 season was dire: lost 5, drew 2, won 1. These are hardly God-like stats.

“The truth is, the damage was done long before we went to Villa Park needing to draw. I feel a little sorry for him.

“I’m gutted for him that it never worked out at Newcastle, Alan Shearer and I still haven’t talked this out face to face and that’s a shame because, as I’ve said many, many times, we were very good friends.”

Shearer responded by posting a clip of Owen on BT Sport.

In the short video, Owen reveals: “All I did at the end of my career, the last six or seven years, I hated it. I couldn’t wait to retire for most of it.”

Shearer captioned the clip: “Yes Michael, we thought that also, whilst on £120k a week…”

Gary Lineker then described the Twitter spat as “awkward”.

Owen replied to Shearer, saying: “Not sure you are as loyal to Newcastle as you make out mate.

“I distinctly remember you being inches away from signing for Liverpool after Sir Bobby Robson put you on the bench. You tried everything to get out.”

Owen then responded to Lineker, adding: “Are you surprised he’s manipulated a tiny part of an honest answer to aim a cheap dig at me? Most ex players I’ve spoken to aren’t.”

Before Lineker said: “There appears to be a bit of history here? I like you both so don’t want to pick sides. *removes creosote from a***.”
