Templegate’s Placepot tips for Breeders’ Cup with UK Tote included in pools

THE Breeders’ Cup is almost upon us and our man Templegate is back with his Placepot selections for both Friday and Saturday!

The UK Tote will once again be included in the Breeders’ Cup World Championship races but Tote will also be offering the full card across the two days at Santa Anita – not just the Breeders’ Cup races.

A total of nine races will take place on Friday with a further 11 on Saturday but not all are classed as part of the Breeders’ Cup.

Win, Place, Exacta and Trifecta bets will be offered on all Santa Anita races, with a Quadpot also available.

Tote will also have a Placepot for both Friday and Saturday.

Though it will be slightly different to the standard UK bet offering, with this Placepot including the LAST six races of each day, in order to accommodate the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday – a change from the first six normally in the UK.

Don’t forget, you can also claim £30 in free bets* to use on Tote ahead of the action too!

Here’s Templegate’s fancies for both days:

Friday Placepot picks

Leg 1 – 8.15: DR NO NO, SALSATION

DR NO NO has an ideal inside draw and usually makes a fast start. He battled well to score last time.

SALSATION has been working well and has enough pace for this drop in distance.

Leg 2 – 9.00: NO NAY METS, BIG EVS

NO NAY METS comes here off two impressive wins and will be hard to catch from his low draw.

BIG EVS has lots of class but may have to settle for a place unless he can rocket out of the stalls.

Leg 3 – 9.40: TAMARA

TAMARA has blistering form over 7f and had almost seven lengths in hand when winning a Grade 1 here last time. Despite the longer trip it’s hard to see her out of the first three.

Leg 4 – 10.20: CARLA’S WAY, BUCHU

CARLA’S WAY was brilliant when winning at Newmarket last time and should have no issue seeing out the mile on this track. Her draw could be better but she can go close.

BUCHU has been in fine form and took Grade 2 honours at Keeneland last time so is a big danger.

Leg 5 – 11.00: MUTH, LOCKED

MUTH clocked a fast time when scoring over this trip in a Grade 1 here last time. He has been working well  this week and is right in the hunt.

LOCKED is another coming off a Grade 1 success and he is proven over this distance.

Leg 6 – 11.40: RIVER TIBER, ENDLESSLY

RIVER TIBER looks ready for this step up in trip after a good third in the Middle Park at Newmarket over 6f. He gives the impression that there’s much more to come.

ENDLESSLY looks the pick of the American team having won all three starts, including a Grade 3 contest here.

Saturday Placepot picks

Leg 1 – 8.30: SONGLINE, MAWJ

SONGLINE comes from Japan where she’s a multiple Group 1 winner with five wins over this trip. Her Japanese jockey is a slight worry but she has lots of class.

MAWJ won the 1,000 Guineas before coming back from a long break to win a Grade 1 at Keeneland earlier this month. Provided this isn’t coming too soon she has a big chance.

Leg 2 – 9.10: IDIOMATIC, CLAIRIERE

IDIOMATIC has moved through the ranks this season, ending with a couple of Grade 1 wins heading here. She is unbeaten over this trip and can go close.

CLAIRIERE is worth taking a chance on despite a modest effort at Saratoga latest. She was beaten just a head in this contest 12 months ago.

Leg 3 – 9.50: AUGUSTE RODIN, MOSTAHDAF

AUGUSTE RODIN won the Derby and Irish Derby over this trip before a blip at Ascot on soft ground. He bounced back well to win in France last time and can go close.

MOSTAHDAF was impressive when taking both the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and Juddmonte International and should appreciate these quick conditions.

Leg 4 – 10.40: USHBA TESORO, WHITE ABARRIO

USHBA TESORO would benefit from a local jockey but he has much the best form on show and showed his class when winning the Dubai World Cup.

WHITE ABARRIO heads here on the back of a lifetime best at Saratoga and this longer trip should be fine.

Leg 5 – 11.25: LIVE IN THE DREAM, NOBALS

LIVE IN THE DREAM usually flies out of the stalls and looked good when winning a Keeneland Grade 2 last time.

NOBALS battled right to the line when scoring at Colonial Downs latest. This is tougher but he did it in a good time.

Leg 6 – 12.00: GUNITE

GUNITE got the better of defending champion Elite Power at Saratoga last time and has every chance of confirming that form. Either way, he should be in the first three.
