ROBERTO CARLOS believes Kieran Trippier is the perfect modern full-back.
The Brazil legend has hailed the Newcastle defender, who has shown his worth in both defence and attack this season.

Trippier has created 25 chances in the Premier League this term and provided six assists, with only Pedro Neto registering more.
He has also continued to show his versatility for England by playing at left-back for the Three Lions.
The former Tottenham man’s displays have caught the eye of Carlos, who told JohnnyBet: “We can see an evolution in the role of full-backs and I was particularly impressed with Trippier as he was able to play on the left-hand side for the England national team.
“I wouldn’t have been able to play on the right of defence but in modern football you need to play on both sides. He has an amazing personality and is very good.”
Trippier has 45 caps for England and has even starred in midfield under Gareth Southgate.
His only international goal came in the 2018 World Cup semi-final loss to Croatia in a display of his free-kick expertise.
The 33-year-old joined Newcastle in 2022 after winning La Liga with Atletico.
Despite his praise of Trippier, Carlos is not confident he could replicate the Englishman by moving into midfield to start attacks.

Asked if he had what it takes to be a modern full-back, he added: “No, I was terrible with the ball. That’s why I was always passing to Zizou [Zinedine Zidane], David Beckham and Luis Figo.
“I played a lot without the ball. My thing was to close down the opposing midfielder and make space for our wingers. I liked to play a lot without the ball.”
The Brazilian won 127 caps for his country and was member of their 2002 World Cup-winning squad as well as lifting the Copa America twice.
At club level, he won 17 major trophies, including three Champions League triumphs with Real Madrid.
Carlos also featured for the likes of Palmeiras, Inter Milan and Fenerbahce during a glittering career.
