JON JONES and the UFC have been called out by Francis Ngannou’s promotional team for a historic fight.

Ngannou walked out on the UFC and a potential blockbuster with Jones to sign with rivals The Professional Fighters League.

The PFL allowed him to also pursue a boxing match with Tyson Fury, something the UFC strictly refused.

Now PFL owner Donn Davis has called on UFC president Dana White to pit Jones, 36, against Ngannou, 37, as part of a co-promotion.

Davis posted on X, formerly Twitter: “Let’s make this fight happen. For the fans. For the fighters. For the sport.

“There are NO hurdles. No legal/contractual issues. No PPV issues. No money issues. @francis_ngannou & @JonnyBones want it.

“@PFLMMA ready … Up to @danawhite and @ufc.”

Both the UFC and PFL are on ESPN, meaning there is no network barrier stopping the bout.

But it would need both promotions to work in unison, something that has never before been done.

In fact, the UFC have traditionally never worked with other companies except allowing stars over to Pride, an organisation they later took over.

Ngannou vacated the UFC heavyweight title following his exit with Jones winning the strap in his absence.

The Cameroonian is yet to debut in the PFL having focused on his crossover boxing clash with Fury, 35, in Saudi Arabia.

And he would become an overnight sensation, flooring the British boxing legend only to controversially lose a split-decision.

Ngannou is set to fight in the PFL next year but it remains to be seen whether he will return to boxing or MMA next.

Jones meanwhile was due to face Stipe Miocic, 41, at UFC 295 next weekend until injury forced him out.
