A picture uploaded on Instagram by Garnacho’s brother Roberto revealed the Argentine called himself “Cristiano” at bowling.

One fan reacted: “The guy is obsessed.”

Another added: “Biggest Ronaldo fanboy ever.”

One said: “Reason why he’s going straight to the top.”

Another posted: “He’s a real one.”

Garnacho did get one season playing with his hero before Ronaldo stormed out of Manchester in 2022 to join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

The 19-year-old has made 11 appearances this season with one goal to his name.

He came off the bench in United’s 1-0 Champions League win over Copenhagen, which needed a late penalty save from Andre Onana.

Garnacho was spotted scuffing up the penalty spot before the kick and he was slammed by former Arsenal midfielder Kim Kallstrom.

Claesson told Bold.dk: “It’s unsportsmanlike. It’s not something I stand for or would do, but if he’s done it, he’s done it.”

But United boss Erik ten Hag said: “I didn’t see it. The referee probably didn’t see it either. I don’t know.”
