Paul Vaughan to aid Warrington’s play-off bid in other ways after ban heartache
PAUL Vaughan is ready to be a disgruntled spectator after being banned from Warrington’s play-off push.
The Wolves prop was hit with a four-match suspension for tugging at the shirt of St Helens’ Sione Mata’utia in the dying seconds of their 12-10 loss.

Disciplinary bosses took the view that he lifted a potentially injured player off the deck, hence the punishment which means he will miss the Grand Final if they make it.
That means he will be in the stands when the sides meet again in Saturday’s eliminator, with their seasons on the line.
And his lip will be bitten almost as hard as his teeth will be gnashed, especially after making Super League’s Dream Team because of his performances.
Aussie Vaughan, 32, said: “I was tough. When we went to fight our case at an appeal, I thought it was pretty disappointing.
“I respect the rule and why it’s there – for player welfare – although I thought it could’ve gone the other way.
“It was bittersweet. I was hit with the suspension then told I was in the Dream Team, so I was happy about that.
“But I’d love to be playing. I’d give anything to be able to play this weekend.”
Despite being banned, Vaughan will still play a big role as Gary Chambers’ side heads to St Helens looking to end their four-year reign as champions.
But it will still be a tough watch as he added: “I just want us to do well, so I go in there, be positive and pump the players up as best as I can.

“I want them to go all the way and I’d be happy to watch them have a successful finals series.- but I’m a terrible watcher, shocking, really, really bad.
“It’s hard for me to bite my tongue when I’m on the sideline.”
