Although France went into the game as heavy favourites, they failed to get a result against managerless Germany.
Thomas Muller opened the scoring for the home side in the early stages before Leroy Sane doubled the advantage in the 87th minute.
An 89th minute strike from Antoine Griezmann offered Didier Deschamps’ side a glimmer of hope, but it was too little too late for France.
Deschamps and his team were heavily criticised for the performance, with Saliba one of the main focal points.
Eurosport journalist Martin Mosnier said: “Tonight, Saliba was not good. He justifies a bit the lack of trust from Didier Deschamps.
“There are others too, but if I had to pick the main loser, it would be William Saliba.”
Meanwhile, Get French Football News rated both Saliba and Todibo a three for their respective performances.
Despite his display for France on Tuesday, Saliba has enjoyed a successful start to the season with Arsenal.
