Newcastle vs Tottenham betting tips
They’re sitting in 4th and 5th heading into the weekend and this contest could go a long way to deciding who plays Champions League next season.
Newcastle have the league edge currently with a three point lead and a game in hand.
Five straight wins put them right back into contention for the top four after five without a win.
That run took a heavy knock last week with a shattering 3-0 defeat at Aston Villa and they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways.
So it might be a blessing that they host a side with just two wins in their last eight games.
Spurs are still in the picture towards the top of the table despite that run of form, which includes a slightly fortunate win over Brighton recently too.
Defeat here could mark the end of their Champions League aspirations, particularly with the form of those sides just behind and with multiple games in hand between them.

The hosts actually come into the game as the odds-on favourites to collect three points.
That’s maybe because they’ve lost just once at St James’ Park in the league this season — to Liverpool.
Despite still having the meanest defence in the league, the Magpies have conceded in five of their last six games.
They can get the result here but with both teams scoring in Spurs’ last five games, adding that to the selection makes for bigger returns.

Could be a Long day
Sean Longstaff was a big miss in the Newcastle midfield at Villa and has been underrated in a midfield that includes the excellent Bruno Guimaraes.
He’s likely to come back in for this one and has proven himself as useful in an attacking build up sense too.
Backing him to score might be a bit of a stretch but an effort on target — he’s got six this term — could be a good one to keep an eye on.

Book of Botman
Sven Botman has been a rock in the heart of Newcastle’s defence.
But he did suffer on a poor afternoon at Villa Park last weekend and picked up a yellow.
