Dr Kwaku Ofosu Asare call for donations to support Ghana’s préparation for All African Games 2023

Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare has called on Ghanaians to donate towards Ghana’s preparation to host the 13th All African Games.

The Ace Sports Journalist was speaking to his former colleague Carl Tuffour on Ghana Television on Sunday evening.

The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee lamented on the issue of financial constrains which is not helping the rate of work for the Games.

“I am urging Ghanaians and organisations to come out and donate something small in whatever way they can to help us complete our preparations for the tournament, we all know the country is going through a difficult phase for our economy. But this is something we must do as it will help us.” Dr. Asare said.

He went on to add “when we were building the Akosombo Dam, the country had no more and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had to go and borrow money to help us achieve this, same as Tema Motor Way and other big facilities and now it is helping us”.

“This is our first time of hosting such an even and we must embrace so that ANOCA do not take it away from us. It has created employment and will sell Accra to Africa and rest of the World”, Dr. Ofosu Asare explained.

He then reassured that the projects are far advanced and the LOC are quite sure they can meet the December deadline to enable the country host it successfully.

The Games are scheduled to take place from 8th to 23rd March, 2024. Accra Sports Stadium, University of Ghana and an Olympic Stadium at Borteyman will be the main venues for most of the events.

53 African countries will be expected to converge in Ghana’s capital City for the games.
