The Turkish Football Federation has yet to comment on the incident.

In the past few years, Amedspor have been subject to several controversies in Turkey after changing their name to reflect the Kurdish name of the city of Diyarbakir, Amed.

During away games they are are regularly subjected to anti-Kurdish chanting, and their matches often end up as violent affairs.

Most recently, five people were arrested after they raised the flag of Kurdistan during an Amedspor game.

Following the match, Bursaspor tweeted a video of their own players being attacked in the corresponding fixture in Diyarbakir.

A statement accompanying the video read: “We would expect the same sensitivity after the match in Diyarbakir, where we just ‘go to play football’, from those who unknowingly and stun people from where they sit.

“Bursaspor is above politics, it is the city itself. This city is ours
This love is ours!”

On the pitch, Bursaspor ran out 2-1 winners to climb up to 15th in the third division.

The Amedspor team were given a police escort from the pitch as the hurling of objects from the stands continued after the final whistle.

Amedspor stay third, having failed to close the gap on leaders Corum.

Anlamadan, bilmeden oturdukları yerden ahkam kesenlerden sadece ‘futbol oynamaya gittiğimiz’ Diyarbakır’daki maçın sonrasında da aynı duyarlılığı beklerdik. Bursaspor siyaset üstü, bu şehrin ta kendisidir. Bu şehir bizim
Bu sevda bizim! https://t.co/MG1WrjTxCd
