CAF grants amnesty to clubs that withdrew from inter-club competitions due to COVID-19 related cases

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted amnesty to clubs that failed to participate in the inter-club due to COVID-19 related cases.In a meeting by the Executive Committee of Africa football governing body, it was agreed that all sanctions and punishment against such club be scrapped.The meeting was held in Yaound, Cameroon, on Friday, 15 January 2021.A letter addressed to member Associations revealed CAF has have taken a decision to grant amnesty to all cases of withdrawals that have occurred starting from the month of March 2020 until further notice.”Due to the unforeseen conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, many teams announced their withdrawals from different competitions due to the travel restrictions imposed by certain governments and the non-availability of regular flights, the statement read.These withdrawals normally result into a suspension from following editions in addition to financial sanctions according to the competitions regulations. CAF Executive Committee has decided in its meeting held in Yaound on 15th January 2021 to grant amnesty to all cases of withdrawals that have occurred starting from the month of March 2020 until further notice, it continued.
